Java development for
backends that outlive the roadmap.

We use Java with Spring Boot where a long-lived, well-understood platform matters more than novelty. Enterprise APIs, complex domain logic, and legacy modernisation. The JVM is fast, the observability tooling is deep, and you can hire for it almost anywhere.

What We Build

Java for platforms that have to keep running

Java is not our default backend. We reach for it when an organisation is already on the JVM, or when the maturity of the platform and the ease of hiring outweigh everything else.

Enterprise System Backends

Complex domain logic, multi-step workflows, and compliance rules, on a platform with decades of production tooling behind it.

Spring Boot REST APIs

Documented, versioned, secured APIs serving web and mobile clients, with the Spring ecosystem handling auth, validation, and data access.

Legacy Java Modernisation

Moving Java 8 and 11 codebases to current LTS, breaking a monolith into services, or re-platforming to the cloud, behind a stable interface.

Batch & Integration Jobs

Scheduled processing, ETL, and system-to-system integration where Spring Batch and the JVM's stability are a genuine fit.

Why Java

Mature, fast, and hireable almost anywhere

Java trades excitement for predictability. On a platform that has to run for a decade, that is the right trade.

1

The JVM is genuinely fast

Modern Java performance is close to native for most server workloads, with a garbage collector that has had 25 years of tuning. Virtual threads make high-concurrency code straightforward.

2

Spring Boot handles the plumbing

Auth, data access, validation, configuration, and observability come from a well-documented ecosystem rather than a pile of one-off libraries.

3

Observability and ops are solved

JMX, Micrometer, structured logging, heap and thread analysis: when something goes wrong in production at 2am, Java gives you the tools to find it.

4

You can hire for it

Java has one of the largest developer populations in the world. If you take the codebase in-house later, staffing it is not a problem.

Honest Guidance

When should you choose Java?

Java earns its place on long-lived enterprise platforms. It is heavier than it needs to be for a small, fast-moving product.

Java makes sense when

  • Your organisation is already on the JVM
  • The platform has to run and be maintained for years
  • Deep observability and mature ops tooling matter
  • You need to hire for the stack locally later

Consider alternatives when

  • It is a small MVP where velocity beats platform maturity
  • The workload is a lean network service better suited to Go
  • Your team has no JVM experience and no reason to acquire it

Java in our work

Our published case studies are built on Node.js and .NET backends, so rather than present a Java project we cannot point to publicly, we will be straight: Java shows up in our work as enterprise services and modernisation engagements, across 600+ shipped projects, backed by a 5.0 rating across 353+ Fiverr reviews. On a scoping call we will walk you through the Java work closest to what you are planning.

AI Technology Partner

Built by AI-native engineers, so your Java backend is ready for agents and LLM features

We design the API contracts, auth, and event model so AI agents and language-model features can call into your Spring services safely later, rather than retrofitting them. It is how our own products, Tully AI and Mebag, were built.

Agent-ready endpoints

Strongly typed contracts, scoped tokens, and predictable errors so an agent can call your API without surprises.

RAG-friendly data access

Retrieval endpoints and change-feed streams that keep a vector store current without a nightly export job.

LLM gateway services

A managed Java layer in front of OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini with rate limits, caching, and fallbacks.

FAQ

Common questions about Java development

Straight answers on stack choice, Spring Boot, cost, legacy modernisation, and how we start.

Do you build custom Java applications, or can we hire a Java developer to join our existing team?

Both. Most engagements are a fixed-price custom build. If you already have a team and need backend capacity, we also place vetted Java developers who work inside your workflow, on your tools and your stand-ups, while we handle employment and payroll.

How much does Java development cost?

We work fixed-price, not hourly. You get a fixed number and a fixed timeline before any code is written. A single Spring Boot service is a defined engagement; a multi-module enterprise system with integrations and data migrations is scoped separately. See our pricing page, or book a call for a real number.

How experienced is your team with Java specifically?

We use Java with Spring Boot for enterprise backends where a long-lived, well-understood platform matters more than novelty. Most of our published case studies are built on Node.js and .NET, so we would rather point you at the overall track record, 8+ years and 600+ shipped projects with a 5.0 rating across 353+ Fiverr reviews, than dress one up as a Java flagship. On a call we will be specific about the Java work closest to what you need.

Java vs .NET vs Node.js: which should I choose for my backend?

Java with Spring Boot for organisations already on the JVM, or where the operational tooling and hiring pool around Java are a real advantage. .NET for teams that prefer C# and Microsoft tooling for the same class of enterprise backend. Node.js for I/O-heavy APIs and JavaScript teams. We work in all three and recommend based on your situation.

Do you work with modern Java and Spring Boot?

Yes. Current LTS Java (21) for new projects, with Spring Boot 3, records, pattern matching, and virtual threads where they help. For existing systems we work with whatever version is live and plan an upgrade path, including migrations off older Java 8 and 11 codebases.

Is Java a good choice in 2026?

For long-lived enterprise backends, yes. The JVM is fast, the tooling and observability ecosystem is deep, and hiring is easy almost everywhere. Where it is not the obvious pick: a small MVP where developer velocity beats platform maturity, a heavily concurrent network service better suited to Go, or a team with no JVM experience and no reason to acquire it. We will tell you honestly if your project is one of those.

Can you modernise or take over a legacy Java application?

Yes. We start with an architecture and dependency review, then agree a direction: upgrade in place, re-platform, or rebuild behind a stable interface. Legacy Java modernisation is a common engagement for us.

What does the process look like?

A 30-minute scoping call, then a fixed-price, fixed-timeline proposal within 48 hours. A single service is usually a matter of weeks; a larger enterprise system is scoped against its real complexity.

Do you sign an NDA before we talk details?

Yes. We can have an NDA in place before the first call. Just ask and we will send one over.

Hire Java Developers

Need Java engineers embedded in your team rather than a full project handoff? Our Java Developers join your existing workflow (your tools, your stand-ups, your roadmap) while we handle employment, payroll, and HR. Add one developer or a full team, scale up before a release and back down after, and keep everything they build.
