Healthcare Software Development
HIPAA-Aware. Clinically Informed.

We build custom software for healthcare organisations, university research groups, and MedTech startups across the US, UK, EU, and Australia. We built COMPASS for Autism at Ball State University, the software behind Sharewear's NFC medical wearables, and we run Slotwise, our own patient-scheduling product, live at slotwise.pk. Compliance, encryption, and clinical workflow aren't features we add later. They're where we start.

What Makes Healthcare Software Different

Healthcare software carries requirements that general-purpose tools never have to think about: regulated data, clinical workflows that don't bend to a template, and systems where a bug isn't an inconvenience.

Regulated data, not just sensitive data

HIPAA in the US and GDPR in the EU set specific rules for how patient data is stored, accessed, transmitted, and logged. "We use HTTPS" doesn't cover it. You need role-based access, audit trails, and minimum-necessary handling designed in from the start.

Every user type sees a different system

A patient booking an appointment, a clinician reviewing notes, a researcher exporting anonymised data, and an administrator managing accounts all touch the same platform, and each needs a different view, different permissions, and a different interface.

It has to fit the clinical workflow, not replace it

Research protocols, intake processes, and referral pathways already exist. Software that ignores them and imposes a generic CRUD workflow gets abandoned. The build has to be scoped around how the work actually happens.

Generic agencies aren't equipped for the regulatory side

Clinical research platforms, medical device companion software, and patient-data systems have compliance requirements a generalist agency will discover the hard way. Getting this wrong has consequences beyond a delayed launch.

Healthcare Software Development Services

Each of these is something we've shipped, not a capability we'd like to try.

Clinical Research Platforms

"Our research data lives in spreadsheets and we can't scale it." We build participant tracking, structured data collection, intervention management, and outcome reporting with researcher, clinician, and participant roles separated from the schema up, the way we built COMPASS for Autism.

Patient Scheduling & Self-Booking

"Reception spends all day on the phone booking appointments." We build 24/7 patient self-booking with calendar sync, intake forms, automatic confirmations, and encrypted notes. It's the exact problem Slotwise solves, running in production today.

MedTech & Wearable Software

"We have the hardware; we need the software that makes it useful." We build the data collection, processing, alerting, and management layer for devices and wearables, like the platform behind Sharewear's NFC safety wearables.

Healthcare Data & Reporting

"We have the data but can't turn it into anything decision-makers can use." We build dashboards and reporting tools that surface clinical and operational insight, with compliant data handling and audit logging throughout.

How a Healthcare Build Actually Runs

Drawn from how COMPASS, Rezi24, Sharewear, and Slotwise were built, not a generic six-step diagram.

1

Compliance & Workflow Discovery

Before any screen is designed, we map who touches the data, which regulatory framework applies (HIPAA, GDPR, or both), and how the clinical or research workflow actually runs day to day.

2

Access & Role Architecture

Permission tiers per user type (patient, clinician, researcher, administrator) scoped from the database schema up, not bolted on as UI checks later.

3

Feature Scoping Around the Real Workflow

We scope the features the workflow needs (a research protocol, an intake pathway, a referral flow) rather than shipping a generic CRUD app and hoping it fits.

4

Design for the Actual User

A patient-facing self-booking flow (Slotwise) and a researcher-and-clinician dashboard (COMPASS) get different UI treatment. One design kit stretched across both serves neither well.

5

Build & Test Against Compliance Requirements

Encryption, audit logging, and role-based access are written as explicit acceptance criteria. A feature isn't done until it meets them, and we test against them like any other requirement.

6

Launch & Ongoing Support

Healthcare platforms keep evolving after launch. Both Rezi24 and COMPASS still do. We plan for a build that continues, not a project that ends at handover.

Healthcare Products We've Built

One we own and operate. Two we built for clients in the US and EU. All in production, serving real patients, practices, and researchers.

Clinical Research · United States

COMPASS for Autism: Clinical Research Platform (Ball State University)

COMPASS for Autism is a research group at Ball State University working to improve outcomes for children and adults with autism spectrum disorders. Teamseven built their clinical tool, used by researchers, consultants, educators, and parents across the US to build personalised support profiles and manage intervention research data, with access separated by role from the schema up.

We also built the software behind Sharewear, a US company making NFC safety wearables for children, seniors, and people with medical conditions. The wearables give vulnerable people a voice when they need it; we built the platform that makes them work. Two healthcare products, one development partner.

Healthcare SaaS · Germany

Rezi24: GDPR-Compliant Online Reception for German Doctors' Offices

Rezi24 is a GDPR-compliant healthcare SaaS we designed and built for the German market: an online reception that lets patients book appointments 24/7, cuts telephone traffic for reception teams, and runs on German data centres. It was our first EU engagement, delivered end to end from concept to a launched, multi-tenant platform, available in German and English.

Patient data was treated as a protected category from the architecture up, not retrofitted after a review. The engagement is currently on hold while the client works on their go-to-market.

Questions About Healthcare Software Development

Do you build HIPAA-compliant software?

We build with HIPAA requirements in mind for US healthcare clients: encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access controls, audit logging, and minimum-necessary data handling as explicit acceptance criteria. We're a development agency, not a compliance consultant. For formal certification or a HIPAA risk assessment, we recommend engaging a specialist compliance firm alongside us, and we'll build to their requirements.

Can you build a HIPAA-compliant clinical research platform?

Yes. That's exactly what COMPASS for Autism is. We built the clinical tool used by researchers, consultants, educators, and parents at Ball State University to build personalised support profiles and manage intervention research data. Academic research platforms have specific data-governance and IRB requirements, and role architecture that separates researcher, clinician, and participant access from the schema up.

Do you build GDPR-compliant healthcare software for the German or EU market?

Yes. We built Rezi24, a GDPR-compliant online reception platform for German medical practices, hosted on German data centres, designed to EU data-protection standards, available in German and English. Patient data was treated as a protected category from the architecture up, not retrofitted after a review. That engagement is currently on hold while the client works on their go-to-market.

Can you integrate with EHR systems?

EHR integration is possible via HL7/FHIR APIs where the EHR supports it. Complexity depends heavily on which system and what level of integration is required. Read access to appointments is a different project from bidirectional clinical-record sync. We assess this during discovery before it goes into an estimate, and we'll give you a realistic picture rather than an optimistic one.

Do you build medical device or wearable software?

We build the companion software and data platforms for medical devices and wearables: the applications that collect, process, display, and manage data from the hardware. We built the software behind Sharewear, a US company making NFC safety wearables for children, seniors, and people with medical conditions. We'd discuss the regulatory pathway for your specific device class as part of scoping.

Can you build patient-facing appointment scheduling software?

Yes. We build and operate Slotwise, our own healthcare scheduling product, live at slotwise.pk. Patients self-book 24/7, practitioners get Google Calendar and Meet sync, custom intake forms, automatic confirmations, and clinical notes encrypted in the browser with AES-256 before they reach a server. We can build a scheduling flow tailored to your practice, or adapt what we've already proven works.

Can you take over or improve an existing healthcare platform?

Yes. We offer Legacy Software Modernization and Software Project Rescue for teams who've inherited a platform, lost their original developers, or have a build that stalled. We start with a code and architecture audit, then tell you honestly whether the right move is to extend it, refactor it, or rebuild the parts that can't be saved, including where compliance gaps need closing first.

How do you handle healthcare data security?

TLS 1.2+ in transit, encryption at rest, role-based access control, and audit logging are standard on every healthcare build, not add-ons. For US clients we follow HIPAA technical safeguards. For EU and German clients we build to GDPR requirements with EU-based hosting. Where the data is especially sensitive, we've implemented client-side encryption so plaintext never reaches the server.

Do you work with academic research institutions?

Yes. We've built clinical research platforms for university research groups, including COMPASS for Autism at Ball State University. Academic institutions have procurement processes, data-governance rules, and grant-cycle timelines that are different from a startup engagement, and we're experienced working within them.

How much does healthcare software development cost?

Scope and compliance requirements drive cost more than anything else. A focused patient-facing tool is a fraction of a multi-role clinical platform with EHR integration and audit infrastructure. Every project is fixed-price after a scoping call, never hourly. You can get a rough range from our cost calculator, or a real number after we've understood what you're building.
