How this calculator works

No black box — here's the exact logic

Every figure above is built from a transparent model, not a sales gimmick. We start with a base cost for your project type, add a flat amount for each major feature you select, then apply four multipliers: complexity, platform, design polish, and a regional rate band. The point estimate is then widened into a low–high range (roughly ±20–25%) to reflect the real uncertainty in any estimate before discovery.

Base by project type$18k (simple web app) → $40k (enterprise)
Feature add-ons$1.5k–$9k each (auth, payments, AI, real-time…)
Complexity×1.0 simple → ×4.5 very complex
Platform×1.0 single → ×1.6 web + iOS + Android
Design×1.0 template → ×1.35 premium custom
Region rate band×1.0 South Asia → ×4.2 US/CA/AU
Common questions

Software development cost — your questions, answered

How much does software development cost?

It depends on scope, but most custom builds land between $18,000 for a simple web app and $250,000+ for a complex enterprise platform. This calculator gives you an instant ballpark range by combining a base cost for your project type with multipliers for complexity, platform, design, and the region your team is in. The output is always a range, because a single number before discovery would be guesswork.

How is the estimate calculated?

We start with a base cost for your project type (e.g. a SaaS MVP starts higher than a simple web app). We add a flat amount for each major feature you select — authentication, payments, real-time, AI, and so on. Then we apply multipliers: complexity (Simple to Very complex), platform (web, mobile, or both), design polish, and a regional rate band. The result is widened into a low–high range to reflect the real uncertainty in any estimate before detailed scoping.

Why is the result a range and not a single price?

Because honest software estimates are ranges. Before a discovery phase, nobody — including us — can give you a precise fixed number without making up the precision. Two teams given the same one-paragraph brief will scope it differently. The range you see is roughly ±20–25% around our point estimate; the precise figure comes out of a proper discovery phase where requirements, edge cases, and integrations are nailed down.

Does the region of the development team affect cost?

Significantly. The same product built by a South Asian agency, an Eastern European team, a Western European studio, or a US/Canada/Australia firm can differ by 4× or more — purely on hourly rates, not quality. Our baseline rate band is South Asia, because that is where Teamseven builds. You can switch the region in the calculator to see what the same scope would cost elsewhere.

Is this calculator a fixed quote?

No. It is an educational ballpark, not a quote and not a contract. It is deliberately transparent about how the number is built so you can sanity-check budgets and compare options. For a real fixed estimate, book a free consultation — we will scope your project properly and put a written number against it, with no obligation.

Disclaimer: The figures produced by this calculator are educational ballpark estimates, not quotes or contracts. Real pricing depends on detailed requirements established during a discovery phase.
