We were right about the market. We were naive about nearly everything else.
The first two years were a masterclass in what good software actually requires: not just engineers who can ship fast, but engineers who understand the business they're building for. That distinction took us a while to learn — and it's now the thing that separates us from most of the agencies in this market.

Senior engineers ship faster than juniors with shortcuts — every time
We've heard the pitch: hire cheaper, move faster. It works until the first real deadline or production bug. A senior engineer writes less code and ships more product. We staff senior. Not altruism — it's the only way to deliver on time. It's also why clients embed our engineers directly in their own teams, not just hire us for fixed-scope builds.
Saying no to bad-fit projects is how good agencies stay good
We turn work down. Regularly. Projects below a certain size, pure marketing sites, no-code builds, anything where the client wants a vendor rather than a partner. It's not snobbery — it's how we avoid becoming the kind of agency we built this to replace.
The boring technical choice is usually the right one
We reach for Angular, Node, .NET, React Native, Postgres. Proven stacks with large communities, good tooling, and ten years of Stack Overflow answers. We don't rewrite in the latest framework to keep it interesting. That's your money.

We tell clients when something's going wrong before they ask. We tell them when their idea has a problem we can see coming. That costs us a few projects upfront. It's why most of our new work comes from clients coming back or referring someone.
