We know what your Fridays look like

Most software agencies will tell you they "understand logistics." Here's what we actually know about your business.

Your busiest day of the week is Friday, because that's when house sales in England complete. Your busiest months run May to September, and somewhere in the middle of every week there's a conveyancing chain threatening to collapse the night before a move, a customer who swears the piano was mentioned when it wasn't, and a crew standing outside a third-floor flat wondering why the survey notes say "ground floor, easy access."

We didn't learn any of that from a blog post. We learned it building and maintaining software that UK removals companies run their entire operation on — quoting, surveys, job sheets, crews, storage, invoicing, the lot. When you've sat in enough calls about how part-load pricing should work, or why a storage invoice run can't just be "the 1st of the month" for every account, the industry stops being a "vertical" and starts being something you actually understand.

That's the difference you're buying here. Not a team that can code — plenty of those. A team that already speaks removals.

The five places removals companies lose money to bad software

1. Portal leads that go cold in minutes

A lead from Compare My Move, reallymoving or Getamover goes out to four or five firms at once. The company that rings back within minutes usually books the survey. The company that rings back tomorrow has paid for a name and number that's already chosen someone else. If your leads land in an inbox instead of triggering an instant, trackable follow-up, you're funding your competitors' diaries.

2. Quotes that die in silence

Most removals quotes don't lose to a cheaper competitor. They lose to nobody — sent as a PDF on Tuesday and never chased, because on Wednesday you were driving a 7.5-tonner. A quote pipeline with automatic, human-sounding follow-up at day 2, day 5 and day 10 wins jobs you've already done the hard work for.

3. Storage revenue leaking quietly

Storage is the best money in your business — recurring, high margin, compounding while you sleep. It's also where revenue leaks: containers that never made it onto an invoice, price increases agreed but never applied, an account still marked active for a customer who collected in March. If your storage billing lives in a spreadsheet, we'd put money on there being missed revenue in it right now.

4. Job sheets on paper, updates on WhatsApp

The office knows things the crew doesn't. The crew learns things the office never hears about. Between paper job sheets in the cab and updates buried in WhatsApp threads, the true state of any job lives in three places at once — and in none of them reliably.

5. Typing everything twice

The job gets entered in your system, then again in Xero. The invoice gets raised twice. The deposit gets reconciled by hand. Every double entry is time you're not selling, and a place for errors to hide.

If two or more of these made you wince, keep reading.

The platform we're best known for: i-mve

Removals & Storage SaaS · United Kingdom

i-mve is a CRM and storage platform for UK removals and storage companies — quoting, invoicing, contracts, job management and containerised storage billing in one system, with lead integrations from the major portals and accounting sync to Xero, QuickBooks and Sage. It's GDPR-compliant and built around how removals firms actually run their week, not how a generic CRM thinks they should.

Teamseven has been the engineering team behind i-mve since 2022. We've built it, extended it and maintained it through the unglamorous, essential work of software that people rely on every single Friday — now serving hundreds of UK companies.

What building i-mve taught us is the entire point of this page: removals is not "logistics in general." Volume calculators, survey-to-quote flows, storage container audits, deposit-then-balance payment patterns, price-per-cubic-foot debates — these are domain problems, and we've already solved them once.

What we build for removals and storage companies

Operations platforms

The full quote-to-invoice system: enquiries, surveys, quotes, bookings, job sheets, crew and vehicle allocation, completion, invoice. Built around your workflow — including the weird bits you've stopped noticing are weird.

Quoting and survey tools

Volume calculators, cube sheets, room-by-room inventories, video survey integration, and quotes that go out the same day as the survey — with e-signature acceptance so a "yes" becomes a booking without another phone call.

Storage management and recurring billing

Container and unit tracking, intake inventories, access requests, automatic recurring invoicing with per-account billing dates, and price-rise runs that actually get applied. This is usually where a custom system pays for itself first.

Lead portal integrations

Compare My Move, reallymoving, Getamover, PinLocal — leads landing directly in your system the second they're bought, triggering instant follow-up. Speed-to-lead is the cheapest competitive advantage in this industry.

Driver and crew apps

Job sheets, inventories, photos, signatures and status updates on the crew's phones — built offline-first, because basements, lifts and rural Wales don't care about your signal.

Accounting integrations

Two-way sync with Xero, QuickBooks or Sage: invoices, payments, deposits and reconciliation without the retyping. Your bookkeeper will notice before you do.

Customer portals

Let customers check their move date, sign their acceptance, pay their deposit and view their storage account without ringing the office at 4:55pm on a Friday.

AI and automation, where it actually earns its keep

Enquiry triage, quote follow-up sequences that sound like you wrote them, and inventory extraction from survey videos. We build AI features into operational software (we work with Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's models) — but only where it saves real hours, not for the badge.

When you shouldn't hire us

If you run two or three vans and don't do storage, don't hire us. Buy something off the shelf — i-mve, MoveMan and Moveware all exist for good reasons, they cost a fraction of a custom build, and we'd rather tell you that on a free call than invoice you for a system you didn't need.

Custom development starts making sense when at least one of these is true:

  • You've genuinely outgrown the off-the-shelf tools — multi-depot, unusual workflows, or a storage operation big enough that billing leakage costs more than software.
  • You need integrations or automations your current system's vendor won't build.
  • You want to own the code and the data outright, with no per-user licence bill that grows every time you hire.
  • You're building a product for the removals industry itself, and you need a team that won't spend three months learning what a part-load is.

If that's you, we should talk. If it isn't yet, bookmark this page — most of our best clients found us the second time they looked.

How an engagement runs

1. A 30-minute scoping call

You talk, we ask questions about how your operation actually runs. No pitch deck. By the end we'll both know whether custom software is even the right answer.

2. Fixed-price discovery

We map your workflow — enquiry to invoice, van to container — and produce a written spec with a fixed price and timeline for the build. The spec is yours either way, even if you take it to another team.

3. A staged, fixed-price build

We build in stages with a working demo every week. You see progress in software, not status reports. Fixed price means scope surprises are our problem, not your invoice.

4. Handover — and it's genuinely yours

Code, database, IP: transferred to you on final payment. No vendor lock-in, no hostage situations. Most clients keep us on for improvements afterwards, but that's a choice, not a trap.

What this costs

Straight answers, because "it depends" is what everyone says right before a number you weren't expecting.

  • Integration projects — a portal-to-CRM connection, a Xero sync, an automation layer on your existing system: £3,000–£8,000, typically 2–6 weeks.
  • Focused tools — a quoting engine, a storage billing module, a crew app: £8,000–£18,000, typically 6–12 weeks.
  • Full operations platforms — the complete quote-to-invoice system: from £25,000, typically 12–20 weeks.

Every project is fixed-price after discovery. If the number changes, that's because you changed the scope — not because we found a way to charge you more.

Who you'd be working with

This page was written by Muhammad Nabeel, co-founder of Teamseven.

Teamseven started on 6 September 2017 as seven university friends in Lahore betting that remote-first engineering would win. The team got smaller; the ambition didn't. Today we're a lean senior team working across UK, US and Australian time zones, with 600+ projects shipped and a 5.0 rating from 353 verified reviews as a Fiverr Vetted Pro agency.

We've built for logistics, healthcare, PropTech and EdTech — but removals and storage is the industry we know from the inside, and the one this page is unapologetically about. If you're a member of the British Association of Removers or you've walked the Movers & Storers Show, we already have plenty to talk about.

Questions removals owners actually ask us

What software do most removals companies use?

A mix: spreadsheets and diaries at the small end, then off-the-shelf systems like i-mve, MoveMan or Moveware as firms grow. Custom software enters the picture when a company's workflow, storage scale or integration needs outgrow what off-the-shelf vendors will build.

How much does custom removals software cost?

Integration projects start around £3,000; full operations platforms start from £25,000. Everything is fixed-price after a paid discovery stage, so you know the number before the build starts.

How long does it take?

Integrations: 2–6 weeks. Focused tools: 6–12 weeks. Full platforms: 12–20 weeks. We demo working software weekly from the first sprint.

Can you feed Compare My Move or reallymoving leads straight into our system?

Yes — that's one of the most common projects we do. Portal leads land in your CRM the moment they're purchased and trigger instant follow-up, instead of sitting in an inbox while a competitor rings the customer first.

Can you sync with Xero, QuickBooks or Sage?

Yes. Invoices, payments, deposits and reconciliation, two-way. Ending double entry is usually the fastest win in any project we take on.

We already use an off-the-shelf system. Can you build around it?

Often, yes — automations, reporting layers, customer portals and integrations that sit alongside your existing system. And if it can't be extended, we'll tell you that plainly before you spend anything.

Who owns the code?

You do. Code, database and IP transfer to you on final payment. We work under UK-standard contracts and NDAs, and we're used to being the quiet engineering team behind someone else's brand.

How do you handle GDPR?

As a design requirement, not an afterthought — consent tracking, retention rules, data export and deletion built into the system. We've been building GDPR-compliant platforms for UK clients since 2018.

Is AI actually useful for a removals company, or is it hype?

Both exist. Useful today: instant enquiry response, quote follow-up sequences, and pulling inventories from survey videos. We build those. What we won't do is bolt a chatbot onto your website and call it a transformation.
