What a $2,500-a-Month Developer Gets You, and What It Doesn't

Our dedicated engineers start from $2,500 a month. It's a number people ask about a lot, so here's a straight answer on what it buys and what it doesn't.

What you get

• A full-time engineer on your product, working in your repository and joining your stand-ups
• Your tools and your process: Slack, Git, your ticket board, your conventions
• Regular updates: at least twice a week on Slack, with what's done, what's next and what's blocked
• Us behind them: our co-founders stay involved, and we handle any issues with the placement
• Ownership: everything they build is yours, in your repository, from the first commit

Our engineers work mostly in the stack we use every day, Angular, Node.js, NestJS and TypeScript on AWS, with .NET and other technologies where they fit. We'll tell you if your stack isn't one we can staff well.

What it doesn't include

• A product manager or designer. You set the priorities. If you need design, we can add it, quoted separately.
• A fixed scope or deadline. You're paying for capacity, not a defined deliverable.
• Instant expertise in your codebase. Every developer needs time to learn a new system. See onboarding a remote developer.
• Third-party costs like hosting and software licences.

When a monthly developer is the better choice

• You have an ongoing product with a steady backlog
• You have someone who can set priorities and review work
• Your needs change week to week, so a fixed scope would be out of date quickly
• You want to grow capacity without hiring locally

When a fixed-price project is better

• You have a defined thing to build with a clear end
• You don't have anyone to manage a developer day to day
• You need a firm budget and deadline

Why the rate is what it is

We're based in Lahore, and our costs reflect that. The rate isn't about cutting corners on who writes your code. Our clients include i-mve, which runs 523 UK removals companies, and we've shipped more than 600 projects since 2017.

Is $2,500 a month the final price?

It's where our dedicated engineers start. The exact rate depends on the role and experience you need; you get a clear number before anything starts.

Can I scale up or down?

Yes. Add engineers as the backlog grows or reduce when it shrinks. We'll agree notice periods up front.
